Today's bloom is Croton (Codiaeum variegatum)

Yesterday I found it again, with flowers now open, and so here I am, to give you a shot at seeing them in all their glory.

Well, I have to admit that in all my years of plant growing, I've never seen a Croton flowering. I get tired of them - their need for just the right light and humidity.

I had no idea that they flowered. Croton the flowers are really neat and the flowers smell so sweet...

    -cheers Gisela.
Croton is an ornamental, often grown in tropical gardens and as a houseplant for its colourful foliage.

It contains an oil with violently purgative and irritating qualities, which is also suspected of being a co-carcinogen. Luckily, it tastes dreadful, so accidental poisonings are rare.
